September 10, 2011: Hair Cut-a-thon for Autism. Please consider getting your hair cut and/or styled at Lisa’s Classic Cuts, 16 Cross Street, New Canaan. Proceeds go to SPED*NET New Canaan to raise money for a sensory friendly fitness path at Waveny Park in New Canaan. Construction begins this fall! Call Lisa at 203-966-3799 for an appointment. January 24, 2009: Fundraiser for SPED*NET, Special Education Network of New Canaan. Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. All profits from our hair services will be donated to SPED*NET New Canaan. SPED*NET will use the money to purchase disability-related DVDs for the New Canaan Library. SPED*NET is a network of parents and professionals who are interested in special education and Section 504 issues. SPED*NET has seminars during the school year, state-wide conferences, special events, and maintains an award winning LISTSERV.

April 29, 2007, Sunday, 3 to 6 pm: Artist wine and cheese reception! Meet Gita Treimanis, local artist whose works adorn our shop. Our entire staff will be there, including Susan Lapis, our party planner. Susan is also displaying her art. Meet Lisa Cufone, and ask about the organic products she is using. Meet sylists Carey. Be entertained by our strolling magicians, The Great Karlini and also P.J. Larson. Everyone invited.

June 3, 2007. Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm. Fundraiser for SPED*NET New Canaan. All profits from our hair services will be donated to SPED*NET New Canaan. SPED*NET is a network of parents and professionals who are interested in special education and Section 504 issues. SPED*NET has seminars during the school year, maintains a LISTSERV, has a variety of books and videos to loan to members, and provides handouts and information. SPED*NET will use the proceeds to give every single family in New Canaan, who has a school aged child with a disability, a publication called Guide to Special Education Services in Connecticut. This publication will be distributed by Darlene Pianka, Director of Special Education for New Canaan Public Schools. Profits will also create a staff library of books on videos on Autism, Differentiated Instruction, and Learning Disabilities. Books for staff will be supplied by DandyTales Bookstore, who has offered a generous discount. For more info on SPED*NET, check http://www.spednet.org/.
